Pre-Contact: Back in the days of early Hawaii, before the white men came, the education was much different then how it is now. Hawaiians way of learning was through nature. They learned the ways of the land from doing things such as fishing, farming, and other things. For women, their education came from doing house chores, and other duties that housewives were told to do. Because of the Kapu System, men and women were to do things seperately from each other. Therefore, both genders had their own way of learning, and gaining education.

Post-Contact: Today, because the Kapu System is no longer alive, men and women are allowed to come together to do things. This ties into education which is much more different now. Today in Post-Contact Hawaii, we have more schools, colleges, and places of learning. We also have certified teachers that teach certain topics. We have books that provide information needed, and computers to teach us how to do stuff as well. We have many things that help us with education today.
